Cash free
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) refers to a wireless system comprising two components: tags and readers. This means your wristband will have an RFID chip (the tag) on it that will allow cash free transactions via trader scanners (the reader) inside the festival making your experience faster, safer and easier.
Confidentiality and safety of personal data and customer transactions is our number one priority. Weezevent, who Boomtown has partnered with to provide the RFID technology, utilises servers that use the latest data encryption protocols (SSL and HTTPS among others).
Weezevent is certified by GlobalSign nv-sa, a certificate authority. Throughout any top-up transaction, you can check the validity of this certificate by clicking on the GlobalSign certificate icon in your browser's search bar, checking for the presence of the green lock, or HTTPS.
You have a bar code attached to your wristband which is linked to your ticket. You can top up your wristband by linking your wristband bar code to your account and topping up using the Boomtown app.
This cash free technology, provided by Weezevent, works entirely within a closed loop system eliminating the need for WiFi and banks to make payments. You will use your wristband at all of our pay points across the festival whenever you purchase a drink, food, merchandise or even to make a charity donation. It’s free to activate your account, to top up with credit or to receive a refund of any leftover money afterwards. The system is entirely free of charge!
Safety
Medical - There are two 24 hour medical centres onsite. The main medical centre is next to Pepperpot Market near Hidden Woods. The second medical centre is on Hilltop between Oldtown and Thrutopia. There is a medical and welfare Help Point located between The Lions Gate and Grand Central. If you require urgent assistance you may find someone to help you here, however this is not a treatment centre so if you can walk to get treatment you can do so at Pepperpot Market or Hilltop. The medical centre in Pepperpot Market runs a fully stocked pharmacy, so they can help with a huge amount of ailments and afflictions, but there will also be a pharmacy available near the entrance of Botanica; If you or a friend find yourselves in urgent need of medical assistance, and cannot make your own way to these medical centres, please find your nearest security, steward or Boomtown representative immediately and they will get one of our mobile teams to you as soon as possible.
Safer Spaces - Sexual harassment, assault and domestic violence support will be offered by Safer Spaces, who have a chill out and glam tent in Pepperpot Market, and will be roaming around the city. The team will be on hand to talk about harassment, sexual health and consent, as well as supporting with any sexual assault reports. Safer Spaces works to prevent violence against women and girls, but are gender informed and gender inclusive.
TLC Welfare - Our welfare team is here to offer support and welfare services for anyone who feels they may need it. Please pay them a visit if you are feeling a bit overwhelmed by anything or just need a bit of TLC. They are based next to the medical centre in Pepperpot Market and in Thrutopia.
Additional Welfare support - there will be stalls across the Thrutopia and The Rookery offering support and talking services run by charity partners including: The Samaritans, Blink Mental Health, and Cocaine Anonymous. If you are just looking for someone to talk to about how you are feeling, or would like information about ongoing help, these teams are here to listen.
- Confiscate drugs without recording the process.
- Under no circumstances can they carry out any form of intimate body searching of an individual. This can only be carried out by the police. There will be police onsite supporting our search procedures, who may conduct intimate body searches where they deem it to be necessary.
Security must follow the rules and respect everyone on site. Boomtown is a community which celebrates diversity and does not tolerate any form of intimidation, violent or threatening behaviour or prejudice or anti-social behaviour. If at any point you feel that Security staff are not behaving in an appropriate way please DO report it whilst you are on site, so we can ensure it is followed up and we can take affirmative action immediately. You can do this by reporting it to the Info Point and the Campsites Help Points, or via the Boomtown app. You can also request that a different security staff member requests assistance from a manager to deal with the situation. To help us investigate this fully, if possible please make a note of the following details:
- SIA / ID number (this is found on security’s hi vis jacket)
- Tabard number
- Location
- Date / time
- Physical description of the staff member
For our citizens who need to make use of a calm environment there are welfare centres on site where there are trained staff on hand to help.
Here you’ll find confidential help, counselling services and advice for any emotional problems. The welfare teams have staff trained to provide professional support and advice on a wide range of issues, including drug and alcohol abuse, addiction, bereavement, eating disorders.
You will see security all across the festival site and below outlines some things security does around the festival to try and keep everyone feeling safe throughout the weekend.
Security constantly keeps their eye on crowd flow! Sometimes they might:
- Stop people entering an area or stage if it has reached capacity, or you don’t have the right wristband for a specific area
- Shut down venues
- Implement one-way systems
- Cordon off areas
- Remove tents if they are blocking fire lanes
You can help them by listening & following their instructions. Security staff are very friendly and you are more than welcome to ask them why they have implemented a venue close/one way system but if they do look busy they may not be able to answer straight away.
You will also find security in and around campsite areas to keep an eye on everyone’s safety and wellbeing as well as ensure everyone gets the chance to rest up, refuel and have some much-needed sleep, security are on hand to:
- Provide support to anyone who may feel they have been put in an uncomfortable position by any anti-social behaviour
- Provide a presence across campsites to check for suspicious behaviour and protect against opportunist tent theft
- Ask the more boisterous amongst us to move if they are in a designated quiet area or if it’s the early hours
- Switch off rogue and prohibited sound systems
They can also…
- Stop people from putting themselves and others in danger by climbing on sets or equipment
- Stop tagging and vandalism of sets
- Confiscate any item that is on the prohibited items list
- Confiscate any alcohol brought into the festival that is over the official limit
- Implement no smoking regulations
- Enforce the festival policy on overt drug taking. Security staff are briefed to intervene if they see drug taking. They can confiscate drugs found, issue a warning, or remove you to evictions. Any person seen overtly taking drugs will have their name checked against any prior drug taking/possession onsite, if you are seen taking/possessing drugs on more then 1 occasion you will be automatically evicted
- Restrain anyone who is a danger to themselves or others
- Carry out searches in cars, campervans, bag and outer clothing person searches
Vibe Check is a festival-wide pledge to party smarter and look out for your crew.
From fuelling up and catching Zs to knowing where to find help and spotting danger signs, it’s all about staying switched on, synced up, and making sure everyone gets the most out of the Boomtown experience.
Stay Crew Conscious
I pledge to keep my people close, check in often, and never let a mate wander solo into the unknown.
Know the Zones
I know where to get help, and I’ll use it if I or someone else needs it. No judgment. Just care.
Party Smart
I’ll check, I know the risks of drugs and alcohol before arriving. I’ll spot the signs, stay switched on, and make choices that keep the vibes high and the risks low.
Fuel Up, Don’t Burn Out
I’ll eat real meals, hydrate often, and have spacers, not chasers, to stay charged for the full weekend.
It’s a Marathon, Not a Sprint
I’ll pace myself and take regular breaks. Don’t hurry through the party. The vibes last longer that way.
Pay off Sleep Debt
I’ll catch up on sleep from any late nights. Whether it’s a power nap, a lie-in, or just a quiet moment. A few Zs keep vibes high and the memories clear.
Recovery Rave
I pledge to dive into at least one Boomtown set or theatrical mission with a clear head, no buzz, just full presence. The magic hits deeper sober.
There are a lot of measures in place to help keep everyone safe, including our security teams who assist in ensuring things run smoothly for all of us. They are all Security Industry Authority (SIA) trained and are here to help, listen, advise, take reports and deal appropriately with difficult situations.
You can find them easily in their hi-vis tabards throughout the city, in all campsites and campsite help points, stages and venues, where their primary objective is to keep us all safe and secure.
Sexual harassment, assault and domestic violence support will be offered by Safer Spaces, who have a chill out and glam tent as well as outreach posts in the Campsite Help Points. The team will be on hand to talk about harassment, sexual health and consent, as well as supporting with any sexual assault reports. Safer Spaces works to prevent violence against women and girls, but are gender informed and gender inclusive.
Not only does taking Ketamine dissociate you from the festival surroundings, it also has some very serious and very real side effects;
• Taking Ketamine can be fatal, particularly if it is mixed with other drugs or alcohol • Taken in high dosage can cause seizures
• Ketamine can increase your heart rate and blood pressure. It can make you confused, agitated, delirious and disconnected from reality.
• Because you don't feel pain properly when you've recently taken Ketamine, you can injure yourself and not know you've done it.
• Abdominal pain, sometimes called ‘K cramps’, have been reported by people who have taken ketamine for a long time.
• In the longer term, Ketamine can cause serious bladder problems, with the urgent and frequent need to pee.
• Evidence of liver damage due to regular, heavy Ketamine use is emerging.
While it might seem like harmless fun, using or supplying nitrous oxide can actually land you in serious legal trouble. Nitrous Oxide (NOS/Balloons) are now a Class C controlled substance. This means possession with intent to use is a criminal offence. In the UK, it’s illegal to sell or distribute nitrous oxide for recreational use. If caught, you could face fines or even worse, imprisonment. And let's not forget those discarded canisters can cause significant environmental harm. They’re not biodegradable, and they litter our festival grounds, causing damage to wildlife and the environment.
We understand and respect everyone’s right to freedom of expression. We are an inclusive festival and actively promote people to express and celebrate themselves and we have no problem with you attending the event as a Naturist as long as you conduct yourselves whilst on the festival site within the confines of the law. We will do everything to facilitate your beliefs and respect it during our event. We unfortunately cannot speak for any other ticket holders who may deem they have been caused harassment, alarm or distress. In order to keep everyone happy we have devised a Naturist consent form that you can take round with you on site in case you are questioned.
All our security staff and volunteers will be briefed on our Naturism policy and will be aware of the consent form.
If you are a Naturist and wish to attend our event nude please contact info@boomtownfair.co.uk
What is Naturism?
Naturism is a lifestyle of non-sexual social nudity, and the cultural movement which advocates for and defends that lifestyle. Both may also be referred to as nudism.
Mixing substances intensifies the effects of any individual drug and makes them more dangerous. The more drugs that are used simultaneously, the greater the risk is. Do not mix substances. Some examples and risks of them are:
Depressant + Depressant (such as ketamine and alcohol): Combining these can slow down your central nervous system way too much, which can be really dangerous and even lead to death.
Stimulant + Stimulant (such as ecstasy and cocaine): This combo puts a lot of strain on your heart and can cause insomnia or even drug-induced psychosis.
Stimulant + Depressant (such as cocaine and alcohol): Mixing these can trick your body into thinking it can handle more, but when one wears off, the effects of the other can hit you all at once.
Many people don’t think of alcohol as a ‘drug’. Alcohol can however, have a big impact on the way many substances affect you. Some of the time this involves enhancing the effects of the other drug, but with many substances, alcohol can create a dangerous, potentially fatal, chemical reaction.
We will have a 24-hour medical centre for first aid support, plus an on-site field-hospital staffed with medical professionals, including doctors, nurses, paramedics and mental health practitioners. Medical outreach and response is carried out by foot patrols and 4x4 ambulances.
The medical centres are equipped to deal with almost all medical emergencies, right through to minor illnesses and injuries. They function in a similar way to many A&E departments across the country and are supported by festival ambulance buggies and paramedics.
There is a pharmacy service available at the medical centre where you can buy over the counter items such as paracetamol, ibuprofen, plasters, tampons and condoms.
We’d recommend bringing a small stocked first aid kit including plasters, basic medication like; painkillers, antihistamines, antiseptic cream, sun cream, after sun and insect repellant.
If you have pre-existing medical conditions such as asthma or diabetes make sure you bring what you need for your time on-site and see our prescribed medicine section below.
Bring a refillable water bottle to use at any of our water points to keep hydrated throughout the weekend
Ensure you have clothing for all weather eventualities
The most important things you can do
- Eat, sleep, hydrate - repeat!
- Know where Medical and Welfare are located and that you can ask anyone in a tabard (stewards, security) for help at any time.
- Look after your friends
- Understand the risks and educate yourself around using drugs and alcohol. The Loop will have a presence onsite to offer drug education. (They will not have a drug testing service this year).
In 2021, pills contained around 150MG of MDMA. Now, the average sits at over 180MG. Stronger IS NOT better. It’s more dangerous. ALWAYS start low and go slow and allow your body to feel the effects. A lot of drugs have come on the market that are incredibly pure, which doesn't mean they are ‘safer’ or good for you... Always pace yourself.
Each year we welcome harm reduction partners to work with us in our planning and to offer advice and education around drug usage to our citizens onsite.
The Loop
The Loop will have their drugs education tent on site to offer information and guidance on drugs to our festival goers for free.
TLC
Our dedicated welfare team is here to offer support and welfare services for anyone who feels they may need it. Please pay them a visit if you are feeling a bit overwhelmed by anything or just need a bit of TLC.
Cocaine Anonymous
If you are just looking for someone to talk to about how you are feeling, or would like information about ongoing help, these teams are here to listen.
Boomtown has a zero-tolerance policy on illegal drugs.
Anyone found in possession of drugs will have them confiscated, may be ejected from the festival, and could face prosecution.
Drugs are illegal, and a police record can seriously affect your future employment, education, or travel. Amnesty points are provided before entry to safely dispose of any prohibited items.
Once past these points, possession will result in eviction. Police and security, including search dogs, will be active at all gates.
Don’t risk it, do not bring drugs into the city.
Here is a Breakdown of our Illegal Drugs Policy:
- Illegal Drugs are Strictly Prohibited.
- Any person found in possession of illegal drugs past the amnesty points, and before reaching the entrance, will be refused entry and evicted from the festival site immediately.
- The possession, use or sale of illegal drugs is strictly prohibited at Boomtown, this includes Nitrous Oxide and all New Psychoactive Substances.
- Amnesty points will be located on the approach to the festival gates, at the medical, welfare and information point for any contraband or illegal items to be disposed of.
- Be aware that search dogs will be in operation at the gates at all times.
- Payment systems such as PDQ and EPOS devices are prohibited. Anyone found to have such a device will be evicted from the festival site.
- Police will be operating alongside our security at the festival entry gates.
Do not risk it. Do not bring drugs into the city.
We raise awareness of drug safety throughout the year and implement a series of harm reduction measures on site designed to safeguard our citizens. This has long been a priority for us and we are proud to be able to say we have participated and led the way in this safety drive.
We do not condone any usage of drugs at Boomtown and anyone found in possession of drugs, will have them confiscated and you might be ejected from the festival site and could face prosecution. If you get a police record for drugs it may impact your future employment, education and travel plans.
Please read this information on the areas we have highlighted for this years festival that many people should be fully aware of before experimenting with drugs.

Accessibility
The accessibility map is sent to verified accessibility customers closer to the event, once the final site layout is confirmed.
If your Essential Companion can no longer join you, accessibility customers are eligible for free companion name changes up until the 27th of July 2026.
Yes. You will receive an Essential Companion lanyard so the support role can be shared among already-ticketed friends. This is for sharing the support role, it doesn’t create extra tickets or allow additional people into access facilities.
Your Essential Companion is expected to arrive and leave with you, and provide support throughout the event. If its unavoidable, they can arrive separately, but they should still make a reasonable effort to support you throughout the festival, and you should plan ahead for any times you may need support.
No. Essential Companion tickets are only available where the +1 symbol is shown on your Nimbus Access Card. If your needs have changed, you’ll need to follow Nimbus’s process to update your card.
Nimbus processing can take time, so we strongly recommend applying early. If you’re concerned about timescales, contact Nimbus directly for an update on boomtown@nimbusdisability.co.uk.
Unfortunately, no. If you miss the deadline we can’t process new accessibility requests or organise Essential Companion tickets after this date.
The 1st of July deadline gives us the time we need to:
- process and approve all accessibility requests
- plan operational logistics (for example staffing, transport, toilets, and accessible campsite capacity)
- ensure we can deliver the correct support on the ground
Without a confirmed accessibility list ahead of time, it isn’t possible to safely and fairly provide the facilities and staffing required.
Nimbus is an independent, disability-led organisation specialising in accessibility assessments. By asking Nimbus to verify your access requirements, we:
- protect the integrity of accessibility provisions and help prevent misuse
- keep your sensitive medical evidence private and handled only by Nimbus
- create consistency across events, so your access information works for you in more places
Head over to our Accessibility page for everything you need to know.

To give all customers time to confirm which Camp Orchid they want to stay in, we won’t be amending bookings just yet. All swaps will take place in mid-March and Kaboodle will email you with an updated confirmation once this has happened.

There will still be a transfer bus for Camp Skylark customers arriving to Boomtown by public transport between the public transport hub and South Gate near Camp Skylark.
There is no car park near Camp Orchid Downtown. If you want to drive, we’d recommend camping in Camp Orchid.
If you are arriving by a private hire coach, being dropped off or arriving by taxi, we’d recommend camping in Camp Orchid Downtown. If you need to change to Camp Orchid Downtown, follow this link.
Yes, log in to your Kaboodle account to add Camp Orchid Downtown to an existing booking.
We would advise staying in the Camp Orchid Downtown as it’s closer to the gate you are arriving at. It is a long walk across the festival, and we want you to have the easiest arrival possible. However, if you still feel you want to change, you can fill out this form by 24th February and we will keep your booking at the Camp Orchid site near Camp Orchid Car Park.

However, if you still feel you want to change, you can fill out this form by 24th February and we will update your booking to the Camp Orchid Downtown in mid-March.
Camp Orchid and Camp Orchid Downtown have the same facilities and benefits; the difference is the location. Camp Orchid is closer to the car park, so it's best if you are coming by car. Camp Orchid Downtown is close to the Public Transport Hub, so is best for customers coming by coach, shuttle or private hire vehicle.
As with most larger festival sites, phone signals tends to be a bit hit and miss. There are no payphones onsite so it's best to do things the old fashioned way and plan a pre-arranged meeting spot. Our app also has some offline functionality, so you’ll still be able to check the programme & the map!
Boomtown was started by a small team of young creative party goers who wanted to create something different - - an experience that brings to life underground music, art and theatre culture.
The festival is still run by the same people who started it - but we’ve come a long way in the last 15 years!
Boomtown takes place over the second week of August between 12th - 16th August 2026.
Boomtown is set in the rolling hills of Matterley Estate, a working dairy farm in the most westerly point of South Downs National park, near Winchester. Exact routing information will be sent with your ticket, please follow it carefully!
Wednesday is a set up day only with limited entertainment. On Thursday there will be a limited number of stages, bars and venues open later in the afternoon. The full show, with all stages and attractions will be open at 12 noon on Friday onwards.
The site needs to be vacated by midday on Monday 17th August. Please make sure you are all packed up and on your merry way home by then.
The Boomtown immersive world is a collection of storylines which create the living city that is Boomtown. Some storylines are national news stories involving the whole city. Some storylines are local news stories involving just one district. Some storylines are town gossip involving just a few characters. Our audience also brings their own storylines… it might become confusing, but that’s all part of the fun.
There may come a time when all storylines seem to connect, and it all suddenly makes sense.
Boomtown is a five day immersive music festival set in a parallel world. We’re on a mission to inspire the emergence of a better world all while having a blast.
Eight city districts come to life, each with their own unique vision for how we build a perfect world. There’s characters to meet, causes to join and secrets to be revealed around every corner.

Boomtown is an over 18’s event. You may see some under 18s during the event. This is because some of our crew live on site for many weeks creating the festival. They will be accompanied by responsible adults and well cared for to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
There is no single Boomtown storyline. Like any city, there are many stories happening at once. Which stories you find out about or become involved in will depend on a combination of which district you hang out in, who you speak to, and pure luck.
The whole Boomtown site is pretty big, you can expect to do quite a lot of walking over the weekend so please bring appropriate footwear.
The Matterley estate is a green-field site that utilises the natural amphitheatre, neighbouring woodland and the surrounding fields to form the unique festival experience of Boomtown.
