Pow lyrical blow to the jaw
If you're from the UK and into club music you’ll be familiar with MC Grindah’s iconicly bad bars from “Heart Monitor Riddim”. Since its foundation in 2010, Kurupt FM has become a household name with their iconic live shows and their nationally loved TV show People Just Do Nothing.
For those who may not know about this legendary show, imagine The Office but with aspiring pirate radio DJs. You can still watch the whole story on iPlayer, so check it out. These guys put Brentford on the map way before Thomas Frank arrived in town!
The Mockumentary started life as a YouTube show hosted on Assim Chaudry’s channel, Wasteman TV. It quickly became an underground success, and audiences fell in love with the infectiously hilarious and cringey antics of the Kurupt FM crew. The UK's favourite pirate radio DJs aired their first pilot on BBC 3 back in 2012, and their success only snowballed.
The concept was created and started by friends Allan Mustafa (MC Grindah), Assim Chaudry (Chabuddy G), Steve Stamp (Steves) and Hugo Chegwin (Beats). Although they have all proved to have immense talent both in front of and behind the camera their experience at a young age was more in the world of MC and DJing which is probably why Kurupt FM slipped so seamlessly into the live circuit.
We first welcomed these legends to Boomtown in 2015 where they ignited the fields with their blend of garage and grime.
If that’s your bag, do NOT miss this set!
