Boomtown
What is it?
Boomtown is a music festival and the largest interactive theatre in the world. The rule of the land is to start anywhere and follow EVERYWHERE.
Boomtown is set in a parallel world divided into themed districts, each with a unique design, stages, characters and experiences. Together our districts create a city where attendees (our Boomtown citizens) can explore different worlds and ways of living.
You can expect a lineup that dances across musical genres, including reggae, punk, electronic, folk, and more. Catering to all tastes; playing host to thousands of performers and over 500 musical acts from 24 countries.
We emphasise storytelling and participation by encouraging citizens to become part of the narrative, engaging characters and set pieces that bring the festival's fictional world to life.
Start by chatting to a character, follow their lead to take on a side quest and see where the journey takes you. Bring things to trade, find out their mission and work with them, or against them. The choice is yours.

Boomtown
The story
In 2024 over 40,000 of you voted in Boomtown's election, choosing Area 404 and their district spokesperson; The Collector, to lead Boomtown.
The result saw mixed reactions on the ground; The Collector, despite representing equality and freedom in the leadership race, spoke only of the key to the city he now holds. Many residents are also unnerved by recent controversies around The Collector’s potentially dangerous portal-opening rituals.
Over the weekend, a growing group of residents questioned the leadership contest; a protest rally organised by The Network swelled with unprecedented numbers. Elen, who had not been seen for the duration of the weekend, appeared at the rally to align with The Network and its vision...

...At the closing ceremony of the city, IONA - the conscious mycelium being whose roots have spread below the city - spoke to all citizens, taking over the airwaves to say "The future is far more than the options they are showing you".
What’s next for the city? Will The Collector be a force for good? What effect will IONA’s growing strength have on the town? Should Boomtown Citizens take heed of IONA and The Network’s words?
